Thread Lifting

A Renew Classic Treatment

Thread Lifting treatment reduces wrinkles, rejuvenates and provides a true non-surgical face-lift.

Thread Lifting treatment is a minimally invasive procedure, comprising of a dissolvable material that has been used in surgery for many years.  They work by increasing blood circulation and relaxing muscles and tendons, thereby stimulating new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.

You will have an initial consultation with one of our experienced Practitioners who will discuss the various options available and develop a tailor-made treatment plan using a combination of short or long threads of varying thickness and textures.  Other treatments can be combined with Thread Lifting, such as Botox and Fillers that in turn can provide even greater results.

During treatment, a local anaesthetic is administered to the area, and the threads are then introduced using a cannula or fine needle.  Dependent upon the treatment provided you may see an immediate effect, however, results generally improve over several months, and may be repeated in 6-8 months.  However, results are expected to last up to 18-24 months.

Will Thread Lifting work for me?

If you have mild problems of facial sagging, a Thread Lift can improve the appearance of a sagging neck, jowls, sagging cheeks and droopy eyebrows. We will personalize your treatment to suit your exact needs. Remember, Threads Lifting is only one part of facial rejuvenation and you may need a combination of procedures to give you the best results. We want you to be happy with your results, and combining procedures is the best route to your satisfaction.

How is the procedure done?

Only a visit to our clinic is needed to do the Thread Lifting treatment. The small threads are inserted into your facial skin in strategic areas, depending on the need for lifting versus stimulation of collagen and tightening. A local anaesthetic in a few strategic areas may be necessary, but many people do the procedure without any anaesthesia. After the needles with the threads are inserted, the needles are withdrawn and the threads remain to work their magic. The procedure typically takes an hour, but this can vary.

Are the sutures permanent?

Thread Lifting sutures are made of an absorbable material that has been used for years in other parts of the body. There has never been a problem with this material over the years it has been used. Rarely are there any allergic reactions to the material. The sutures dissolve over the next 6 months leaving no residual material present since they are broken down by a process called hydrolysis (they turn into water!). The new collagen and fibrous tissue that had formed around the sutures then continue to hold the skin up and tighten the skin.

Is the procedure safe?

The procedure is typically very safe, however, no procedure is without risk. Minor side effects are rare and may include infection, bruising, swelling, tenderness, numbness, and slight asymmetry. Occasionally a suture can show itself just below the skin. Most of these potential problems resolve over the following weeks to months after the procedure.

What is the downtime from a PDO Thread Lift?

Most people can return back to normal activities the next day. Mild swelling and bruising can happen and cover-up make-up may be necessary for a few days to weeks. Strenuous exercise is not recommended since straining right after the procedure may move the threads.

When are the effects seen?

Many people see some results immediately after the procedure. However, the best results are seen 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure to give the tissues time to form the collagen and fibrous connective tissue needed to tighten, firm, and volumise the deep tissues.

How do PDO Threads work?

There are different types of Threads, some are smooth, some twisted, and some have barbs for lifting. The threading techniques all can increase collagen formation and volumize the tissues while tightening the skin through the formation of fibrous tissue around the threads. The barbed sutures can lift and also do all the above, and the effects can be enhanced by combining the different threads in a mesh type fashion.

Are the results as good as a face lift?

The results of Thread Lifting are never as good as the results one can achieve from a facelift or a neck lift. If you have moderate to severe sagging, you should consider the latter. However, if you have mild sagging of the areas discussed, you may be a good candidate for this minimally invasive procedure that involves no cutting, surgery, or general anaesthesia.

How long do the effects of the PDO Thread Lift last?

Of course, results always vary from person to person due to each person’s skin and body health, age, genetics, and many other factors. Most of the time the results last around 6 months to two years. It is no problem to insert additional threads every six to 12 months to maintain and even improve their effects. Once a person has had the procedure performed, they usually like it so much that they continue to have further threads inserted so they can keep seeing their great results.

How much does Thread Lifting treatment cost?

Renew’s Thread Lifting treatment prices are bespoke to the individual and are based on the number of threads used, type and area/s being treated.
